FAQ

How do I get there?

Click here to check out our page dedicated on how to get to one of the most beautiful places on the Dingle Peninsula. We’re biased but come experience it for yourself and you will understand.

Is breakfast included?

Atlantic Bay Rest is self catering only. But there is a small kitchenette available for all cabins in the Galley with free tea and coffee; and a fully equipped kitchen for the Bungalow guests. We recommend doing your shopping in Dingle before coming. There are Supermarkets (Lidl and SuperValu – which has a deli section), and small convenience stores like Centra and Spar. There is also a health food store on the Main Street in Dingle and one in the Ventry post office.

Where can I eat dinner if I don’t want to cook?

Ballyferriter village has a couple of great pubs with good grub and great atmosphere! Murphy’s is most reliable out of season and the Ceann Sibeal hotel also serves food (has a vegan option). We’re near the Golf Links which has a restaurant too. Please note that life slows down the village over winter so you may sometimes be out of luck and have to eat in Dingle if you didn’t bring something to prepare in the kitchenette.

Can I hire the place for a retreat?

Absolutely! We love helping passionate individuals run retreats. Get in touch to ask all your questions and run your idea by us. You can also visit our dedicated retreats page. Water sports, photography or wellness retreats, you name it, we will do our best to support you! We want your guests to have an incredible experience at Atlantic Bay Rest.

Can I hire the place out for my stag or hen?

Although small gatherings are welcome, Atlantic Bay Rest is a peaceful and quiet place so we don’t allow parties and ask that all noise stops at 22:00 out of respect for our other guests and neighbours.

Can I have my wedding at Atlantic Bay Rest?

You won’t be the first and you won’t be the last. Atlantic Bay Rest is lovely for intimate casual weddings. It’s also a wonderful backdrop for photos! However, we aren’t weddings organisers so, although we are happy to give you as many contacts to hire for your big day, all we do is open the place to you for your ceremony.

Are you inclusive?

Yes! We don’t tolerate discrimination. We believe everyone should feel safe to travel and explore the world. You’re welcome to Atlantic Bay Rest no matter your sexual orientation, gender, skin colour, etc. All you need to stay with us is a love for nature or a sense of wonder. You might like to know that the owner’s son who is involved in Atlantic Bay Rest is half Ghanaian so this is a black-owned business, which is currently woman-run by Laura.

Can I book the sauna if I’m not a guest?

Yes! If you’re a local or you missed out on a stay with us as we book up quickly, you can reach out about having a private sauna session at Atlantic Bay Rest. Please contact us via WhatsApp or text to enquire about schedule and pricing. The sauna fits up to 5 people although it is more ideal for 3 people. You can book a 30 minutes or 1 hour session.

Can I bring my pet to Atlantic Bay Rest?

If you are booking the Bungalow, your four-legged friend can come along with you. Pets are not allowed in the other accommodations. We love animals and understand it’s a privilege to be able to take your dog along for the trip! However, we ask that you abide by certain strict rules or refrain from bringing your pet.

+ Your dog must be friendly to other dogs and humans. There are other animals on the property and other guests that may have children

+ Your dog must be clean and trained, including a good recall as the area is not fenced

+ Your dog should be kept from destroying anything indoor or outdoor and you are liable for any damage

+ BYO dog bowls and beds – crate can possibly be made available upon request

+ Owners are expected to actively pick up after their dog

+ STRICTLY no pets in the bedrooms or on furniture, including small dogs! In the Bungalow, they can sleep in the living room, hall or kitchen

+ Do not leave your pet alone inside the house or at the property

Is Atlantic Bay Rest a good place for kids?

Kids love it here! Big kids too (yes, you the parent) usually find a childlike sense of wonder when arriving at Atlantic Bay Rest. The beach is sheltered for swimming and has fun topography to explore. However, this is a wild place atop cliffs by the ocean so your child should be supervised at all times depending on the age. Small children would also need help getting down to the beach.

Is it safe to swim at your beach?

While there is no lifeguard or supervision so you swim at your own risk, our little beach cove is ideally sheltered so we can usually swim all year around without experiencing big waves or currents. A cold ocean swim can be a great part of the experience following by the hot outdoor shower. Go to our gallery to see more beach photos.

Can I do laundry during my stay?

We have a laundry machine, indoor drying lines, a clothes horse and a dryer that you’re welcome to use. There is a small charge for the machine and/or the dryer. Please ask us first so we can show you how it all works. You are welcome to use our natural laundry detergent but it’s ok if you prefer using your own. We encourage air drying first to help the environment.

Why book with us?

Aside from the wonderful experience of sleeping right by the ocean on the Wild Atlantic Way, we do things a little differently. We are not perfect but we are continuously trying to do our best to be a responsible business in as many ways as possible. We strive to lessen our environmental footprint. See our sustainability page to learn more.

When you book with us, you support a small local black-owned business, which is woman-run. And, of course, we give back to the local community by supporting other small local businesses and charities such as Seal Rescue Ireland.
